Privacy Policy for Note Overlay

Effective date: August 18, 2026

Note Overlay is developed and published by LM App Development (Levi Moore) (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

This Privacy Policy explains how the Note Overlay Android application (“Note Overlay” or the “app”) accesses, uses, stores, and shares information.

Summary

Note Overlay is designed to work primarily on your device.

Information Handled by Note Overlay

Drawings and Screen Content

The drawing overlay lets you draw above other apps. Drawing strokes are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us.

Note Overlay does not create user-accessible drawing documents from your canvas. However, the app may store a limited crash-recovery snapshot of recent drawing operations in its private app storage so that work can be recovered after an unexpected interruption or service restart.

Crash-recovery data may include information such as stroke coordinates, drawing operations, tool properties, colors, sizes, and other data needed to reconstruct the canvas. Recovery storage is bounded, remains on your device, and is used only for local recovery functionality.

When a new capture session is required, tapping the screenshot feature opens Android’s system screen-capture consent interface. If you grant permission, Note Overlay uses Android’s screen-capture service to capture the full device display so the drawing overlay is included. The captured image may include content visible in another app.

After you grant permission, the screen-capture session may remain active while the Note Overlay service is running. This allows you to take additional screenshots without approving a new session each time. Android may display system indicators or controls for an active capture session on supported versions. The session ends when Android stops it or when Note Overlay’s overlay service closes.

Screen content is processed locally to create the screenshot. Note Overlay does not send captured screen content, screenshots, drawings, or crash-recovery data to us or to a developer-operated server.

Some apps and device settings block screen capture for privacy or security reasons. In those cases, a screenshot may appear black, blank, or otherwise restricted. This behavior is controlled by Android, the device manufacturer, or the app being captured.

Saved Screenshots

Screenshots are saved as JPEG images in your device’s shared media storage, normally in the Pictures/NoteOverlay folder.

Saved screenshots remain there until you delete, move, share, or back them up.

Uninstalling Note Overlay may not delete screenshots that were saved to shared media storage. You can manage these files through your device’s gallery or file manager.

Local App Settings and State

Note Overlay stores settings and app state locally on your device. These may include:

These records are used only to provide app functionality and are not uploaded to us.

Note Overlay is configured not to participate in Android’s normal application backup for its private app data.

Google Play Billing and Pro Verification

Note Overlay uses the Google Play Billing Library to offer and verify the optional Pro upgrade.

The app communicates with Google Play to:

Google Play may process Google Account, device, payment, and purchase information under Google’s own terms and privacy policy.

Note Overlay does not receive or store your payment-card number, bank details, or billing address.

The app receives purchase status and the purchase token needed to verify and acknowledge the purchase through Google Play. Note Overlay does not send this information to us or to a developer-operated server.

The app stores only the local entitlement status and verification timing needed to control Pro access.

For more information about Google’s data practices, see the Google Privacy Policy.

Sharing

After saving a screenshot, you may choose the Share option. Note Overlay then opens Android’s system share interface and gives the app you select temporary read access to that screenshot.

Note Overlay does not automatically share screenshots.

Once you choose a receiving app or service, that app or service’s privacy policy and data-handling practices apply.

Saved screenshots may also be accessed or backed up by gallery apps, file managers, cloud-backup services, or other services you have configured on your device.

Communications With Us

If you contact us by email, we receive the email address, message, and any other information you choose to provide.

We may use that information to:

Please do not send sensitive information that is not needed for your request.

Permissions and System Services

Note Overlay uses the following Android permissions and system services:

Display Over Other Apps

Used to show the floating toolbar and transparent drawing surface above other apps.

Screen Capture

Used to capture the full device display only after Android presents its screen-capture consent interface and you approve the capture session.

An approved capture session may remain active while the overlay service runs so that additional screenshots can be taken without requesting a new session each time.

Foreground Service

Used to keep the Note Overlay service available while you use other apps.

Notifications

Used to display the foreground-service notification and related controls. On supported Android versions, notification permission may be requested.

Network Access

Used by the Google Play Billing Library for product, purchase, and entitlement operations.

Note Overlay does not use network access for advertising, analytics, third-party tracking, uploading drawings, uploading screenshots, or uploading crash-recovery data.

Data Collection, Disclosure, and Sale

We do not collect app data on a developer-operated server.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We do not share information with advertisers or analytics providers.

Information may leave your device in these limited situations:

Note Overlay does not upload drawings, screenshots, screen content, local app settings, or crash-recovery data to LM App Development.

Data Retention and Deletion

Drawing and Recovery Data

Drawing data may be retained in Note Overlay’s private app storage for crash-recovery purposes.

Recovery data is bounded and is intended only to restore recent drawing work after an unexpected interruption or service restart. It may be replaced by newer recovery data, cleared or discarded through the app’s recovery flow, removed when the app’s storage is cleared, or removed when the app is uninstalled.

Local Settings, Trial State, and Entitlement State

Local settings, trial state, and Pro entitlement state remain on your device until they are cleared by the app, you clear Note Overlay’s app storage, or the app is uninstalled.

Saved Screenshots

Saved screenshots remain in shared media storage until you delete them.

Uninstalling Note Overlay may not remove screenshots that were saved to shared media storage.

Google Play Purchase Records

Purchase and payment records maintained by Google are controlled by Google and are subject to Google’s retention and deletion practices.

Support Email

If you contact us by email, you may request deletion of support correspondence we control, subject to any records we reasonably need to retain for security, legal, fraud-prevention, or legitimate business purposes.

Because Note Overlay has no user accounts and does not store app data on our servers, there is no server-side Note Overlay account or app-data deletion process.

Security

Note Overlay limits its handling of screen content, drawings, recovery information, and settings to on-device app functionality except for the limited Google Play Billing communications described above.

Private app settings and crash-recovery data are stored in Android’s app-specific private storage.

Screenshot sharing uses Android content permissions to provide the receiving app temporary read access to the selected image.

Google Play Billing communications are handled through Google’s Billing Library and Google Play services.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit information handling to what is needed to provide the app’s functionality.

Children’s Privacy

Note Overlay is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not designed or marketed to children under 13.

Note Overlay does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us by email, contact us at moorela8702@gmail.com so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, our practices, or applicable requirements change.

The updated policy will be posted at the same public location with a revised effective date.
